Introduction
This privacy policy applies to the Auroracle app (the "Application") provided by Brattli (the "Service Provider"). The Application is offered as a free service and is intended for use as is.
Data We Process
The Application does not require account registration.
When you use the Application, it may process: (a) precise location (if you grant permission), (b) city search text that you enter, and (c) location entries you choose to save in the app.
The Application does not use advertising IDs, does not run third-party analytics or ad SDKs, and does not track users across apps or websites.
Location Information
If you grant location permission, the Application reads your device location to show local aurora and weather forecasts.
Location data is used for app functionality and is optional. You can deny permission and still use the app with manually searched/saved cities.
The app stores current and saved locations on your device to provide features such as quick access and forecast display.
Search Queries
When you type a city name in search, that query text is sent to a geocoding service to find matching locations.
Search queries are used only to return search results and are not used for advertising or profiling.
Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
To provide app functionality, the Application sends relevant request data (which may include location coordinates and search query text) to third-party data providers such as Open-Meteo, BigDataCloud (fallback reverse geocoding), NOAA SWPC, and OpenFreeMap map tile services.
These providers may process request metadata such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps under their own privacy policies.
The Service Provider does not sell personal data and does not share data for cross-app or cross-site tracking.
Storage, Retention, and Deletion
Saved location entries are stored locally on your device and retained until you remove them or uninstall the app.
The Service Provider does not operate a user account backend for this Application and does not maintain a central user profile database for app users.
Third-party service providers may retain request logs according to their own retention practices.
Children
The Application is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13.
The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided data through the Application, contact mobylity@brattli.net so appropriate action can be taken.
Security
The Service Provider takes reasonable steps to protect data handled by the Application.
Network requests made by the Application use HTTPS endpoints. However, no transmission or storage method is guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your Choices
You can withdraw location access at any time in your device settings.
You can remove saved locations within the app. You can stop all data processing by uninstalling the Application.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
This privacy policy is effective as of March 2, 2026.
